I have inherited a Pearl grandfather clock. We set it up and works ok. Gives a series of chimes every 15 minutes, but chimes 12 hr bells every hour no matter what hour it is. What have we done wrong?

not sure...does the hour hand have a slight amount of freedom or does it look a bit too far forward towards the minute hand?

probably a rack strike clock which means a rack drops on the hour. how much it drops depends on where the position of the hour hand is. it could be dropping behind a part of the hour wheel called the snail. it may be trapped there.

shouldn't be a 10 minute job for a repairer.
