When the idea of this forum was initially conceived, the sole intention was to bring together the clock making community in a common place where they could share ideas, advice, and stories about the world of clocks. For over five years, membership has grown to encompass several experienced repair people, woodworkers, and clock aficionados alike. Serving as moderator for all the years this forum has been active has been both an honor and a privilege (especially when I consider all the clock related knowledge that I have gained throughout my time as moderator). As always, I tip my hat to those knowledgeable members that offer advice and expertise (whether with movements, clock-making, woodworking, and/or finishing). I aver: Without you, our forum would not be a fraction of what it is today.

Somewhat recently, our forum has experienced a large increase in unrelated advertising within forum posts. It is no secret that there are individuals out there that utilize forums to post garbage links (spam) for unrelated products and/or services, and our forum has proved to be no exception. It is primarily for this reason that the following action will be taken:

Any posts/links will be deleted if they are unrelated to the realm of clocks, clock movements, woodworking, and wood finishing. Record will be made of the offending spammer’s user name, and sustained access will be permanently denied if they should not refrain from posting further unnecessary/unrelated links. This will be done without warning and regard for the offending party’s membership to this forum.

As we continue in our efforts, I urge all members not to click into any unrelated spam links supplied. I not only recommend this for the safety/security of your computer, but also as a possible means to decrease the number of spam links that might be posted in the future. To offer a simple analogy: If the fish are not biting, the fisherman will move to another spot. If it does not prove lucrative to keep posting garbage links within our forum, then perhaps we may see a decline over time (and the offenders will move elsewhere).

Clock related advertisements are ALWAYS welcome and completely permissible, however we ask that these posts be limited to the “Classifieds” section of the forum (where other forum members can directly access such posts if they should specifically be seeking products and/or services offered).

I certainly appreciate your time, and thank you for your attention. Furthermore, I wish to thank all current/regular members for ignoring such unrelated posts and bearing with us as we attempt to work through these issues. I look forward to continued moderation of this forum, as well as the opportunity to continue to learn more about clocks, movement service, woodworking, and finishing as it pertains to the clock community. Most importantly, I look forward to the sustained growth of our clock forum.

Warmest Regards,
Chris
