I was recently given my Grandfather's clock, which was bought by my Great-Grandad after World War 2 in memory of losing one of his sons during the war. I am interested to find out how old it is and how to correct the chimes on it. Since I brought the clock home the chimes are 15 minutes out of sync and don't know how to rectify it. The inside of the clock shows that it was made by Enfield Clocks, (Smith's does not feature on the name). Please help as it is of sentimental value to me.

Luckily, this aspect of synchronization is very easy. Begin by removing the cap nut which secures the longer minute hand. Remove the minute hand. Re-mount the minute hand so that it is 15 minutes behind where it previously pointed to. Re-secure the minute hand with the cap nut. Advance the hand to the correct time (15 minutes).
