Post subject: an old clock
I bought an old clock and have looked on the internet for hours. I am trying to find out more about it like maybe a model name and year of manufacture. The back label is worn and very black so almost impossible to read. The key says Ansonia Clock Co. and there is a pendulum that allows you to regulate the speed. The clock patent is 1879. The patent date on the pendulum is MCH 1, 1881.
The case is a dark wood with what I would call and EastLake gingerbread style to it. The glass is painted/gilded and it is quite ornate.
The clock also has a loud hourly chime and there is an optional alarm chime that can be set by turning the dials in the middle of the face.
The clock was purchased in Cedar Springs, Penn. by the man I bought it from.
Here are two photos taken with my cell phone. Sorry for the poor quality.
Can anyone tell me anything about this clock?

This is a typical "kitchen" clock from around the turn of the century. They were also called "gingerbread", "parlor", and other names. They were very popular in the early 20th century. They sold for about 2 to 3 dollars. Yours has an alarm, which is a good feature and increases the value slightly. It all looks original except for a new dial, possibly (it's hard to tell from the photos). It's value is hard to access. The best way to find it's value is to check ebay for sales on similar clocks.
