Post subject: Another Cuckoo Clock issue.
I got the clock and the music to work just great, BUT, while the music unit is running it quacks like a duck! I'm not kidding. The music sounds really good but it has this sound like a duck that is actually more or less in rhythm with the music. I must have had this thing in and out of the clock a dozen times and I haven't got a clue what the problem could be. I was told by a clock maker that its caused by a tine, or tines, still vibrating against the next barrel pin in line. He also said that this is somewhat normal. I don't know if I can go along with that because it does it not matter how slow I run it, it will still do it and I have a harder time believing that whoever engineered this thing would pass it off like that! I find this noise quite objectionable. I wish I could tell you who made it but I can't find a name on it. One thing I do want to say is that the lower note tines have ballast weight attached to the bottom and I'm suspecting that this may somehow be the cause of the problem but I don't know why.
Thanks, Jim

only thing you can do is replace the music unit.

I was afraid you'd say that. I really like the 2 tunes it plays and I really wish I could repair this one. What if I were able to get a replacement comb for it?
