I have a "JaSagar Blackburn" (I think I have that right) GF clock, about 150 years old. Passed down through the family so I do not have much info on it Sad

Unfortunately it has been kept in an older house for 40+ years so the wood laminate had some serious drying out showing, and a bit of the beautiful face paint has peeled in a few spots.

Two questions:

1) What can I do to stop any further damage?

2) I have to now ground ship it 1/2 way across Canada. I fear for it's survival! What preparation is required?

I can email pictures if that helps anyone help me.

Many thanks,
Bill

there are specialist companies who can do this for you. however i don't know any myself.

Keep the clock in a dry but average humidity room to retain the condition - very dry conditions have dried it out.

make a crate and wrap the clock in bubble wrap or similar .
Transport the pendulum and weights separately but marked up so you assemble the same.
