Our Ridgeway Grandfather Clock was just shipped more than 1,000 miles. The friend who packed/loaded it was not careful enough and two of the weight chains have fallen off,.....including the middle one. How do we reattach them??

Often the movement will need to be removed from the case to rethread the chains over the sprockets. However if the movement is sitting on a seatboard that has one long slot in it for the chains to drop through and you can see the sprocket by looking up from underneath with a flaslight then maybe you can get them back on. But if there are just small holes in the seatboard for each individual chain end to go through then the movement should be removed.

You might also want to verify which way the chain sprocket winds so that the weight hook and retaining ring are at the correct end once the chain has been rethreaded. If not, then you'll only have to remove the chain and start all over again. The alternative is to open the chain links and switch the hook and retaining ring from one end to the other.
