Battery movements and magnets

I'm a newby here so be kind if this is a stupid question, but I'd like to make a cover of the back of my clock and I'd like to have a magnetic catch for it. Would this interfer with the movement? I know in the past the answer would be yes, but I'm not sure if this has changed since there are so many plastic parts now days.

should not be a problem. another option is to use a bullet catch or a latch.
