Post subject: battery operated movement
I removed a battery operated movement from an old clock and placed it in a new clock that I built. It was working fine in the old clock but will not run after placing it in the new clock. I had removed the batteries before removing the movement. How do I get it back to running and chiming??
It's a Klockkit movement.

Check to make certain the hex nut is not secured too tight (this is not typically applicable for movements secured with a bushing). If secured too tightly, it may inhibit the movement from normal operation. A finger tight hex nut is usually sufficient to hold the movement in place.
Also make certain the batteries are installed properly (and check to see if you require two batteries). Make certain the hands have proper clearance with each other. If the hands should touch each other (or a front glass surface), this may inihibit the movement as well. Also make certain that there is proper clearance between the cap nut (on the end of the movement) and front glass (if applicable). If the cap nut should rub against a glass panel, this could also inhibit the movement.
These are just general troubleshooting ideas to check into... Other ideas would depend on which movement you have specifically. Hope this helps...

Thanks for your reply. None of the suggestions you gave apply. I removed movement from the new clock and installed back in old clock. Nothing. Made checks with meter. Everything good. Kept installing and unstalling batteries. Started ticking. Pendalum stops. I'm thinking it must be something electronic within the movement. It must be something like 10 years old. How long do those things last? Can something happen to them at a battery change? Maybe a surge??
Thanks again.

does it have an on/off switch? maybe it is switched off? Anyway 10 years is about the norm for one to last, time for a new one.

No on/off switch. Did get it to ticking again but pendalum doesn't work and no chime. Ordered a new one from Klockit. Thanks for your replies and suggestions.

Yeah - I would say it is time for a new quartz movement. 10 years (as amrad said) is pretty much a norm...
