I have a blackforest cuckoo clock I bought in Germany 10 years ago. Its been in storage for the last 4-5 years and has not been used. I pulled it out, dusted it off and hung it up the other night and to my surprise, it works great!
However I went to go wind the clock by pulling the chains and thus began my issues. There are 2 weights on this 1-day clock. The one of the right (cuckoo bird) winds fine, then I went to wind the left chain (actual time keeper) and it feels stuck.. I pull a little harder, still nothing, I pull a bit harder, and I can feel the chain kind of "slip".

I am really not sure how to proceed. I intend of having the clock oiled (or do it myself) but I want to know if anyone has ever had a similar problem. The weight will fall just fine while running the clock, but will not wind the other.

Thank you for any suggestions

you need to have it looked at to sort the chain out and have it checked over.

yousay you dusted it off which means it's prob full of dust on the inside.
you could do more harm than good by running it like this.
