I have just been told that my clock movement needs new bushes can anyone tell me what and where they are and how much it might cost to replace them.

bushes are similar to a cars bearings - the wheels pivot on them at each end.
trouble is there are no bushes to renew when the clock is new because the holes are drilled the right size during manufacture.
when a 'bearing' hole wears the hole has to be recentred and 'bushed' with a brass bush the right size. during dissassembly the repair man will (should) check the pivots for wear too.
when stripped other faults or wear may show up but this is not usual unless a lot of time has gone by since the last service.
he will then thoroughly clean the clock mechanism and assemble and oil and set the chime right then check for correct operation.
cost will depend on where you are in the world and who you take it to for repair.
I'm in the UK and i'm not sure if i am allowed to mention prices on here.
Also depends on whether the clock is a timepiece only or strike as well or chime and strike too.
some people quote a bit more if the clock is antique - usually an extra problem crops up the older the clock is.
