I'm trying to reproduce a Catena Wall Clock. Does anyone know if this has been tried before? I need a movement that can turn a bicycle chain. If you want to see one please click the link. Any help would be appreciated.

This is a mechanical clock, so you would need to purchase a balance style movement (hermle 130-clock), and find a light weight gear to attach to the hour hand. Another option if you do not want a striking clock is an electric motor, 1rph.

I made the clock! It's electric but it's my first try and it keeps great time and alot cheaper than the Catena Wall Clock for $2300. Now the trick is to lose the electricity! Is there a way to post my picture?

You could upload photos to a free site (such as Flicker) and post the link within this message strand.

Very nicely done! Unfortunately, I do not have suggestions for loosing the electrical requirement aspect of the clock. Despite this, I urge you to check back with us every so often. We have some very creative and knowledgeable patrons who may be able to provide further advice.

As a side note: Does amrad's option for a Hermle balance style movement apply to your assembly? It is in this manner that you might be able to loose the electricity requirement with slight modifications (as he suggests). Mechanical style movements must typically be wound (or are weight driven) to power timekeeping, and will not normally require other sources of power (be it electric or otherwise). The "130" he refers to would be the first three numbers of the Hermle movement model number. I suppose that any of the available "130" series movements might be applicable, however you would need to verify this to be certain.
