Post subject: Chelsea Boston Clock
I have a Boston quartz brass marine clock made by Chelsea, 4 ˝” with chime. It has a Kundo “trigger” quartz movement that needs to be replaced. Do you have a recommendation as to where I can find a replacement movement by either Kundo (original) or another manufacturer that might work ?
This unit will feature a remote speaker wired to a separate "chime box" unit. In turn, this separate "chime box" unit is wired to the quartz trigger clock movement. We have actually separated the trigger clock movement from the "chime box" and have tested wiring it to existing trigger movement style clocks with the separate "chime box". Our test findings were that this tigger unit (once separated) can be connected to another chime box unit to serve as a potential working replacement movement. Ultimately, this unit may be your answer...
In all fairness, I should mention that here are a couple of drawbacks with this replacement option. 1.) You will end up with a "chime box" unit and speaker from the new movement that will probably not be used. 2.) By separating the trigger clock movement, you do void the one year warranty. 3.) I can not guarentee it will work with every type of trigger clock out there (unfortunately we can not feasibly test every trigger clock out there).
All that being said, the movement retails for $10, so it is a minimal investment to see if you can get your clock working again. Just make certain the trigger clock movement size (referenced as "case size") will work/fit in your clock assembly before you were to place an order.
