Post subject: Chime: Peerless, Romany, Wesminster
The instruction card on the inside of my New Haven mantel clock is stamped with the word "Peerless". I have found a very similar NHCC mantel clock with the word "Romany" stamped in the same place. Are these variations of the chime? Thotz?

I believe that "Peerless" was a German clock manufacturer (see link below and refer to "Trinity Chimes" section):
I can not find any information on "Romany" being a manufactuer, nor much info in regard to searching "romany" and "clocks". It appears that New Haven Clock Company created an assembly in the early 20th century which they named The Romany. In some cases, manufactuerers would put the clock title on the dial (which could be where "Romany" would originate form). Please note, however, that this is pure speculation on my part.

This NHCC chime is definitely Westminster, not the Trinity. Most of the Westminster chimes I'm finding, however, are struck out on five chime rods, not four, (perhaps they use an octave chime rod for the hour strike....) The "Romany" clock I saw - but was outbid on - had only four hammers, and the dial plate, including the winding arbor holes were exactly the same as the one I have...
