The Westminster chimes are all on top of each other. Sometimes the clock tries to play them all on the quarter hour or half hour, but usually only on the hour, when the first two strikes of the hour play then are overlayed by the chiming of the quarter and half hours, and then the rest of the strikes are played after they are finished.

There are three places to wind the clock. When just wound it chimes but after a while it stops chiming.

My grandfather built this clock for me, and it was in storage many years and recently serviced. It appeared to be working well after serviced, perhaps just losing about 8 mins a day. Then when it was flown to its new home it chimed incorrectly.

The clock repairman offered to pay for work, perhaps feeling some responsibility for it not working now and us having spent $300 getting it running before moving it. But there are no services for clock repair here. If you can help me to try to fix it, I would be so happy. This clock means a lot to me, sentimentally. PS I am generally a handy person.

Thanks

Probability is something has moved just behind the dial and not dropped into place when uprighted again.

All levers should lift and drop on their own during chiming etc. Any levers staying up and not dropping?

take the minute hand around and let the center one drop to set the chiming going then watch the levers go up and down.

Can you tell us exactly what happens on each quarter and hour?
Does the chiming stop or keep going?
Check the silent/chime lever is fully to 'chime' too.
