Post subject: Clock Chimes wrong amount of times per hour
Help please! My husband let the clock completely unwind and now the clock chimes the wrong amount of times per hour.It is 4 hours short on the amount of times it is supposed to chime. How do I fix this issue?
Thanks!

Remove the cap nut on the end of the hand shaft (it will simply screw off). Once removed, remove the hour and minute hands (both should pull off of the shaft). Take note of where the longer minute hand is in relation to the clock face numerals. Re-mount the hour hand so that it is 4 hours behind. Re-mount the minute hand at it's previous position (note that if the clock continues to run as you perfrom this adjustment, the hand may advance from the last noted position when it was removed). Re-mount the cap nut to secure the longer minute hand. From that point, advance the minute hand to achieve the correct time (making certain to stop at each chime cycle if the movement is in chiming mode). Allow the movement to complete each chime cycle before advancing the minute hand. Note that if you have a "silent" feature for the chimes, you may move the chime lever to this positon to shut off the chimes. From that point, you do not need to stop at each chime cycle. Once the time is set, allow the movement to run for a couple of hours and take note if any further adjustments are required.

I suppose that you could also stop the movement (pendulum) for 20 hours and re-start after that point. That would probably also accomplish the task at hand... Note, however, that if you have a moving moon dial, it will probably be off about a day as a result...
