Post subject: Clock gong bonkers.
I bought an old clock from E Bay a while back , it needed its main spring repaired. My neighbour did this for me and it worked fine.
It was put on an uneven surface and went out of beat so I repaired this myself.
Now , it chimes a bit unpredictable , tonight it chimed 7 times for 7pm at 7.15. Last night it chimed constantly until I stopped it manually by putting my finger in the way of the hammer.
Can anyone talk me through checking and setting the chime? It chimes once on the half hour and the number of hours on the hour.
It has two springs, one for ther clock and one for the chime, it is apparently from around the 1920's, is a napolian hat type shape with a swinging pendulum. I can get photos if needs be.
