Post subject: Clock movement kits
I am wanting to build a Grandfather clock and I wanted to order you movement kit but I had some questions. The kit says it includes the weight shells, does this mean it also has the weights as well? I want the kind of movement that was used in the antique clocks many many years ago.
Also, I was wanting a larger face plate and moon dial. say 14" x 18" or so. Is this size available from you or others? The movement I want is your biggest and nicest. Thanks for any help

If you are looking at the biggest movement (which comes with weight shells), then you are probably looking at #13055 perhaps? At any rate, all movements come with the weight fills. On some movements, you must order weight shells separately (but this only concerns the Hermle manufactured movements and is due to alternate selections which are offered).
I have not seen a grandfather moving moon dial which exceeds a height of 16", but thast does not mean that they do not exist. Most dials I have seen average about 15-1/2" in height X 11" in width. Most importantly, the clock face has to be manufactured to fit the specific movement it will be used with (as the moving moon dial will mount directly to the movement front plate). With #13055, the dial is included (and we do not carry alternate dial options that would fit that movement).

Thanks for the replay. I guess your right on the face size. I just want to build an oversize clock that is about 15% larger than typical. I'll just have to do it with the standard size face and moon dial. I will be ordering the movement you suggested. Thank again
