Post subject: clock stops 10 minutes before the hour
Hi, I have a 100 years old two weight wall clock. The clock was running years without problem, but lately would stop running about 7-10 minutes before the hour. After moving the hand past the hour and the striking the clock will run for a few hours than stops again before striking. Thanks

It's next to impossible to accurately diagnose a problem such as this without examining the clock. Usually, if a clock stops when it reaches the strike warning just before the hour, is the need for cleaning and lubrication. After 100 years there could also be wear to the movement, but as stated this can't be determined without examining the clock.
Lack of periodic maintenance only shows up when a clock won't run any longer.

Thanks CLKWRX, I give a try to clean the movement. I am a master jeweler over 50 years of exp. but just getting into clock repair as a hobby.
