Post subject: Clock without a pendulum
Hi , just been given a wall clock without a pendulum, can anyone advise how I go about determining the correct length, size and weight etc for a new pendulum. I am very much a novice to this. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Peanut

If it is a mechanical movement (either key-wound, or weight driven), then you should try to find any manufacturer's markings that may be etched on the movement. For example: Hermle floor clock movements will denote something like "94 cm" or "114 cm" (etched on the rear plate of the movement) which will give you an indication of what pendulum it will require. Sometimes, just the manufacturer model number may suffice to find a replacement pendulum.
If it is a battery operated movement, then the pendulum is simply for show (and has no bearing on time keeping). Klockit sells pendulum sticks and bobs that can be subbed for most quartz movements. We have two types of sticks - a single hook version and a double hook version. If you have a battery operated unit, please reply back and I can assist with identifying what type of pendulum stick would be required.
