Hello everyone,

I dont much about clocks, been reading about them recently, but still learning the basics. Im interested in using a clock in a lock design (locks being my usual hobby), and Im interested in using the gear train to move some parts around for me. Since clocks have been worked on so much, it really makes me think it would be easier to look at other clock designs before figuring out what could be best for the lock.

I was wondering if you guys knew of any clocks which had been used to move other mechanical machines? There would have to be much more torque power provided by the gear train to move the parts, so Im not sure how that will work with the clocks timing and escapement (i think). It would also most likely be a 4-6 second clock, versus a 60 second one, or possibliy a combination of both.

So Im really interested in any information from the clock and not lock side of things you guys think could help or get me in the right direction.

old antique windup toy cars had a windup mechanism called clockworks, most likely because it powered the car via gears and a mainspring.

Also come to mind are wind-up phongraphs, music boxes
