Post subject: clodk chimes repeatedly
I have this old Waterbury china clock and sometimes it starts chiming and won't stop. It has been cleaned and oiled by a clock shop. It runs but sometimes chimes wrong along with the continuous chiming problem.

Runaway strike could be a problem on older count wheel striking clocks (of which this is probably one). I would strongly advise returning it to the shop that worked on it. This is something that they should have caught when they serviced it.

I returned the clock three times and it still does it.

I agree with clkwrx - if you paid for the repair take it back.
Let him keep it a while if that's what it takes to catch it playing up.
It's obviously not 'locking' when it should.
This simply means a lever is not dropping at the right point to stop the mechanism. Usually not really a hard repair so he obviously doesn't want to spend time getting it right.
Ask for your money back, or some of it, take it to a proper shop who does repairs.
