Post subject: Crystal face on antique
Let me start by saying I know very little about clocks and probably shouldn't be buying something I know nothing about. That being said, I did buy a neo gothic french mantle clock with matching candle sticks on Ebay from a seller in the Netherlands. The Ebay item # is 140089625984 and probably can be viewed. Anyway, the clock is unusual and beautiful except it has no crystal over the dial face. The bezel around the face appears to be original and I can see no way a crystal could have been attached to the bezel. Is it possible the clock never had a crystal? I've never seen one without it but what do I know.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Post subject: Dial crystal
Judging by the photos on eBay the clock possibly never had a crystal over the dial. The bezel doesn't look as if it is hinged. It would have to be if a crystal was installed since the dial must be accessible for winding.
The movement (by Vincenti of Paris) is a good one. The hands are possibly mismatched, but it is not distracting.
It will be your call as to whether or not you re-electrify the candlesticks, but they will have to be rewired to North American standards if you decide to do so.
