Hello, new to the forum and looking to see if anyone can help identify a
cuckoo clock I've recently come across.

(Picture of internals available if needed)

It is a Hubert Herr single day musical chalet cuckoo (if I've got my terminology correct.)
It has a sticker on the side which says "Swiss Musical Movement", "Edelweiss", and "Gueissaz - Jaccard",
which, from my understanding, relate to the music box.

I found it in a building my grandfather is renovating and I'm curious about it, as well as its potential value (if any).

Also, It seems the music box chain is having issues. The chain appears to run properly over the gear,
but the gear spins freely (except by careful timing and placement of the weight, but will fall after 2-3 plays).
Is there an easy fix for this, as I'm not a clock buff by any means?

Thank you in advance for any help

-Dom

Hello, Dom,

The clock clearly needs some TLC -- and repair.

If, by chance, however, you have not had it repeired, I would be interested in buying it for the music-box mechanism inside (providing it is an 18-note (finger) mechanism by gueissaz-jaccard). A photo of the music-box mechansm would confirm.

Cheers,

there is no easy fix for this. it is worth repairing and has numbers and letters on the back of the movement which may identify date.

it would be sacrilege to sell parts off - sell it whole for a better price. its a good make as HH are still making these. even now a rough guess is 30 to 50 GBP as its not working properly. depending on where you sell it. working it could fetch 100 +
