hi all im new to clock repair and im doing it on my own with the help of the web , anyway iv just sorted out a old cukoo clock that had a lot of wear bent back plate etc etc , anyway one of the cones wights is a bit heavyer that the other which one runs the clock and which does the bellows etc .allso is there anyone near to ripon north yorkshire that i can call on when i need help , can you guys recomend any good books and where can i find tools etc in yorkshire .

Sounds like you have cuckoo that has worn bushings and someone has put on a heavier weight on the run side so it would keep running. Most cuckoos have the same weights on both sides. You probably need a bushing job on most or all of the pivots. I live in Louisiana, and don't even know where Ripon North Yorkshire is on the map. Surely there is a local clock person there.
