I registered on this forum to expand my knowledge of repairing antique clocks, is this not what the forum is all about?? I am confused by the first 5 threads that I see when signing onto the forum this evening as none of them have one iota to do with clocks or repairing same.

If this is normal for the forum, please advise me and I will remove my name from your membership list. I can find spam forums most anywhere on the internet.

Yeah these people creep in every so often. The moderator Chris has been diligent in removing these posts.

Ive noticed most links bring you to various obscure search engines

Clockguy, this is one of a few i joined to help people with clocks who have BASIC problems. Complicated problems cannot be answered here as time limits me and others.

As for the advertisements well Chris tries to keep on top of the problem but admits he will not be able to delete every post before they post it.

Just something we put up with and IGNORE.

Another forum to expand your knowledge with antiques is the NAWCC. if you do a search you will find .

I would hope that you stick around, and I apologize for any inconvenience. These posters keep signing up under different names. As we restrict one name from posting within the forum, they come in with some other user name and post the same garbage. I will continue to delete these posts to try to weed through the garbage. I will also continue to attempt to restrict these people from further posts by denying that user name access to posting within any topic of this forum. Beyond that, there is not too much more that can be done at this time.

I was an art gallery owner and professional picture framer for 20 years before I "retired" and fell into a situation where I could learn to fix antique clocks. My mentor is a man who is 85 years old and has worked on watches and clocks all of his adult life so I am quite blessed to have such knowledge at my disposal.

I belong to some professional framing forums with which I have been a member since the late '90's so I am not a stranger to spammers like these people. It just surprised me to see that there is apparently nothing sacred with these people!! Who would have expected people tele-spamming their junk on a clock forum??

No, I don't intend to leave, I learn as much through reading posts such as some of you put up here regularly so I intend to hang in the wings and take notes as I need them. clokfxr, I was on the NAWCC forum before coming here but I did mostly reading and didn't know that you could post without joining the NAWCC until just recently. That is one of 3 sites including this forum that I check on a regular basis. The third one is Steve Conover's "Clockmaker's Newsletter" forum which is also very informative.
