Post subject: Does anyone make a nickel or pewter mechanical movement?
I'm building a grandfather clock and would like a nickel or pewter movement (pendulum, weights, etc.).
All I can seem to find is shiny brass.
If they are not available, would I be able to "refinish" the brass into a nickel finish?
Thanks!

Post subject: Nickle finish movement
I believe that Kieninger manufactures a grandfather movement with pendulum, weight shells and round dial frame in a chromed or nickle finish. It does have a definite shiny appearance. Hermle may also make a similar grandfather movement now. So far I have only seen this chrome/nickle finish in a factory built clock. I don't know if this particular movement is available for sale separately. Both Kieninger and Hermle have websites.
It might be possible to replate the brass components in a chrome or nickle finish although it could be cost prohibitive.

Hermle definitely makes weight shells and pendulums with all kinds of finishes, including shiny or brushed nickel.
They also make nickel plated movements, but I'm not sure about Grandfather movements.
