E.N. Welch suspension rod length?

Anybody know the length of an E. N. Welch Aug. 30 1870 suspension rod and spring length? I buy a basket case clock with the works in pieces. the suspension rod that came with the pieces was broke and I don't even think it was the original rod. The rod was 8" long without the feather. I made a new one put I think it is to long. After rebuilding the works I could not get it to run. I started shortening the rod and now it runs. But I would like to know the actual length if anybody has this information.
