Post subject: electric wood gear grandfather clock (information please)
On the clock kits page of this site is a wooden gear grandfather clock that is wheight driven, I have encountered one simular to it but is powered by a synchronous electric motor rated at 1 rpm. It is not working properly. Has anyone seen such a beast before, and have any info for me. The motor drives the esc. wheel via a clutch made up of 2 magnets, one attached to the motor (this part is damaged at the moment) and the other magnet is attached to a coiled spring which is glued into the end of the esc. wheel arbor. Is this the proper motor/rpm's? The motor has been replaced 4 times in 3 yrs of running time and the current motor is in bad shape now.
