Post subject: Emperor Model 120
I have an Emperor 120 clock that my Grandfather made in the 1970's. The clock doesn't appear to work in its current state. My Dad tells me he had it checked out and was told that the movement needed to be replaced. Is there any way to test this, and what movement replacement kits would work for this clock?
The weights, pendulum and chain are all intact. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me!

this is the norm for clocks from this period. It's actually cheaper tp replace it than fix it. you could contact a company that sells clock movements, most likely you will find the maker of the movement and the model number on the back plate of the movement.
These people may be able to help with a replacement..

Emperor used a couple of different movements in this model clock (Jauch or Urgos) which are now no longer available.
The replacement for a vintage Model 120 Emperor clock is a Hermle 451 series movement, (e.g. 451-050, 94cm). Because of the height of the #120 case a 94 cm pendulum is used (the 451 series movement is available in different pendulum lengths). I believe that the existing dial, chimes and weights may be reused. Additional fillings, such as lead shot, will have to be added to the weight shell(s) since the Hermle movement requires slightly different weights than the original movement used.
Later Emperor #120 clocks used this same Hermle movement after the original movements were discontinued.
