Post subject: FHS wall clock movement
Dear Sirs,
I have recently acquired a FHS wall clock with a movement # 351-051 and it was made in 1977. It currently does not work. The hour hammer spring I believe is broken, The quarter hammers seem to function properly and although the hands spring is fully wound the pendulum will only swing for less than minute till it just gradually stops. The back plate also has 45 CM pendulum stamped on it over 101.88.
My wife really likes this clock and we would like to find out if it is worth investing in repairing it or just purchasing a new movement. We had it about two days before the hour hammer spring quit working and cycled it through all the chimes and they all sounded very good despite looking very rusty. I can gladly send some pictures of the movement, case and/or chimes if you like.
If you can be of any assistance, it would be greatly appreciated. We live in Gainesville, Florida and do not know of any help locally.

if you like it have a new movement put in. being 35 years old it is probably worn out. unfortunately new movements don't last half that long anymore.
if its possible the old movement is servicable then do this instead.
personally, speaking as a repairer, i would have a movement fitted and make sure it is serviced (cleaned and oiled) EVERY two years.do this and it will last a very long time.
