Post subject: First Time Clockkit-buyer need experienced suggestions.
Hi, My father has expressed interest in getting into clock-building. I'm looking for a classy starter kit to get him for christmas. Can anyone recommend a good starting clock-kit with everything he needs to build his first clock included? Also, is there a good tool-kit to get him started with the smaller tools he would need to get rolling on this project? Just looking for some suggestions and recomendations. I'm working on about a 100$ budget for this gift. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
Philip

When looking at a kit product, there are only a few additional tools you will want to have on hand during assembly. A hammer, screwdriver, electric drill (for pilot holes), tape measure, and square are usually essentials (although not all may be required for a certain kit product). Refer to the tool icons listed with kits for tool requirements specific to a certain kit.
Clamping is also very important. He will also need his stain and /or finish, applicators for his stain/finish, and some additional sandpaper (#120 grit, #180 grit, #220 grit are the common requirements). Kits will include a piece of each type of sandpaper and wood glue. More than likely, he will already have some of these general tools – so it may not be necessary to purchase all of them.
