Post subject: Franz Hermle clock key wound too tight
Hi,
We bought a mantle clock, Franz Hermle. The key is wound too tight so we can't get it working.
The clock is an emperor model #79 341-020.
Is there any value to this clock?
How much would it cost to fix it? Wondering if it is worth fixing it.
Thanks for all your replies.

I assume you have the numbers from the back plate of the clock.
If so the 79 refers to the year it was made = 1979.
the 341-020 is the movement type.
probably needs a service or new movement complete.
the dirt and stickyness accummlated over 31 years had siezed the mainsprings.
cost is down to you - get an estimate - not avaible here without seeing the movement out.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Is there any antique value to this clock? I am not sure if I should invest any more money in it.
Thanks

Antique it is not.
Unfortunately unless it's working order you won't get much for it.
If the case is good you could offer it for spares to a repairer who may or may not be interested in it.
