Post subject: FRENCH MANTEL CLOCK
Hi people i am new to the worl of clock and was just wondering if anybody could help me with any history surrounding this clock.
This is the sellers info on the clock,i would like to buy it.
A huge French Mantle clock of length 19 inches width 10.5 inches and height 20 inches. It has no damage that I can see and ticks away merrily chiming on the hour and on the half hour. On a marble base with gilt metal Roman Chariot with riders and two horses. It is quite simply the finest clock I have owned. The dial face reads Chevassu Lorient Brest-Nantes-Tours and on the plate on the marble base Course Romaine Par X.Raphanel..It has its key

I have the same clock and the same questions you do?
Have you heard anything about it? How much is the seller offering it for?
I'll let you know if I find out anything

Antique French clocks often had no maker's name on them at all. In fact the name on the dial may be that of a retailer who originally sold the clock, along with location. Brest, Nantes and Tours are individual cities. The plate on the marble base could be the title of the sculpture. As always pictures can go a long way in helping to identify an item.
