Post subject: French Slate Clock
Hello:
I just purchased what the dealer said was a French Slate clock. The is running about 5 minutes fast every two hours. The pendulum is all the way down. The pendulum does not look original. The only marking on the movement is 265. The pendulm is maked 3 on the left and eight on the right. The pendulum is turned all the way down. The pendulum is about 6 inches long. Any suggestion on how to get it running right?

french clock movements have two more numbers usually in the middle of the plate at the bottom- one number each side of the pinned pillar.
these numbers relate to how long the pendulum should be...but in french size only. it nearly equates to the inch so if it says 4 6 then the pendulum will be rougly 4.6 inches long from the top suspension block to the middle of the pendulum bob.
a lot of these clocks are a marriage and you cn get a new pendulum from suppliers.
