Post subject: German Movement Suspension Query
I have an 8 day wall clock with a german movement manufactured by Winterhalder & Hofmeier it is not a fusee type nut a mainspring inside a barrel, the clock is missing it's pendulum and suspension spring and wind up key, is it possible to purchase these items and can anyone advise
where I can get them, just wondering if there are specialist companies who are able to identify the correct item to ensure accurate timekeeping.
I am located in England.
Thanks

you will need to consult a clock repairman.

You will find these are not available 'off the shelf' anywhere. the clock is possibly 70 years old and it would be very hard to find original parts to fit.
The pendulum is made to fit that particular clock ONLY. They are nice clocks and a replacement pendulum could be made up from old pendulum pieces possibly. A clock is designed to do a certain amount of beats (ticks) per minute and so the length of the pendulum has to be just right to keep time. Sometimes these clocks also have a 'leader' between the pendulum and suspension spring joining both.
Clock keys are easy to get but come in different sizes so you need to take your clock when you get one.
