I have lowered the pendulum bob as low as I can which takes it to about 1/4 of inch from the bottom of the case and it still runs fast - over 1/2 hr per 24. I know the escapment is well worn and needs to be replaced.

1. Is there any other way of adjusting the mechanism to make the clock run slower?

2. Where can I find/purchase a replacement escapement?

Your input is greatly appreciated

You probably need a total re-bushing job if it is worn that much. Replacing the escapement would probably not solve your problem.

Is the pendulum original to the clock, timing is by the center of osscillation. so a larger,or heavier pendulum or bob, would make for a longer pendulum to keep time.

You adjust the rate of time, by raising or lowering the bob, but the center of osscillation is what actually determines the length/rate association.

If your pendulum has a different center of osscillation, this would explain it not keeping time, within your case. sounds like your bob is too large.

You could have a skipping escapement, if the bob is original, Skipping should be readuily visible. Check verge depthing, or look for a bent or damaged tooth causing a miss.

too much slop in the wear plate for the crutch.

loose crutch at the verge/arbor.

low amplitude/swing on the pendulum.

wrong suspension spring (way too heavy)

all these would cause skipping.

Could be very dirty , worn movement, or loose mechanical fitting.
