Grandfather clock only chimes once at the top of every hour.

I have a Ridgeway grandfather clock. It will only chime once at the top of each hour regardless of the time and setting. All other melodies chime complete. Only the hour does not chime correctly. This causes the hour weight to lag behnd the others. Can you offer any soggestions to repair this problem? Thank you.

we can offer a possible solution but could you fix it?

Slightly confusing question- I assume it has a chime AND strike ?

Trying to work through your writing it seems you may have just a strike or it would miss chiming the others for a while.

probably down to the lifting lever behind the dial either worn or bent or not lifting properly.

The other way of looking at your q is that the rack is not dropping down on the strike side which is also behind the dial.

Unless you know what these parts are and where to find them ... take it to a repairer.
