Post subject: Grandfather clock picking up time
HM relatively new grandfather clock. All of a sudden it is picking up 10 to 15 minutes per day. Any ideas what would cause this. I adjusted the pendulim but it still keeps running fast. It has not been moved, etc. Could it be that it needs cleaned/oiled already (abt 4 to 5 years old) and would this cause it to run fast ?

are you lowering the pendulum? Probably should be cleaned, but this would not cause it to speed up. I would keep adjusting the pendulum down.

Remember to allow a full 24 hours in between each pendulum adjustment (to see how much the time has been effected in a 24 hour period). One full turn of the rating nut (underneath the pendulum bob) equals about 1 minute in a 24 hour period for many movements. Adjustment is a trial and error process that may take a few days, so make certain to stick with it.
