Post subject: Grandfather clock stops
Hello, I have a Colonial of Zeeland grandfather clock with I believe a Westminster 532 movement. The clock has worked very well for years and has not been moved. Recently it stopped working, the pendulum will stop after about 15-20 mins. It swings freely when re-started, the hands are not hitting each other or the glass, the chains are not all the way to the top or twisted / tangled. When I restart the pendulum it does tick but it doesn't seem as loud as it used to. I tried cleaning the exposed parts and applying a little oil but this didn't fix it. Is there anything else that I can try before bringing it to a clock repairman?
Thanks for the help.

Check to make certain the movement is level (front to back and side to side). Also check your suspension spring. If it is broken, your pendulum will not continue to swing. Another aspect is beat adjustment. You can perform a beat adjustment to see if this corrects the issue.
If all else fails, you may want to have it looked at. If you should need clarification on anything recommended above, please respond to this post.
