Post subject: Grandfather Clock Strikes Twelve
My grandfather clock has started striking twelve every hour. If I move the minute hand back past the hour it will reset for one hour striking the proper number of times but then go back to striking twelve every hour. I have not been able to find information about what might cause this issue. Any help someone can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a bunch!

It's almost impossible to offer an opinion without knowing the age, type of movement, or better still, having the clock available for inspection.
There are several possibilities as to why it doesn't strike the correct number of times. It ranges from cleaning and lubrication, to adjustment, to replacing worn or damaged parts, or a combination of all those things.

If you feel up to it take the hands and dial off and look at the front and see if there is anything bent.
If you get stuck or think you can't do that then it needs a clockmaker.

Thanks for the help. The hour rack assembly was slightly bent and was not hitting the hour tube assembly. An easy adjustment and the clock seems to be working fine. I appreciate the assistance and expertise.
