Post subject: Grandma's Clock is soon to become firewood!!!!
Greetings, all, as a child my Grandmother had this clock that used to sit on the mantle over her fire place. I always wanted it. She died this past April at the age 83. The clockhas been with me ever since and has bee nothingbut huge pain in the rear. First you can not get the clock any more plum then I have it. I have had working once and it worked fora goodsolid week but it was fast so I turned the knob on the bottom of the pendulum, thinking it would slow it down.......nope, hasn't worked since. I get all of 5 maybe 6 minutes...a clunk and then it stops. I've taken to 4 clock "specialists" and they see nothing wrong and can't get it to continue ticking away either. Any advice would be appreciated.

Sounds like the people you took it to do not want to fix it. Could need a cleaning, and some service work. I would try the NAWCC business directory.
Since you know it was working but fast I would gradually move the pendulum bob up, until it starts running for longer than a few minutes.
they are not experts if they can see nothing wrong with it or it may just be a case of getting an even beat from side-to-side . this is the most common fault apart from needing a service.
put it on a surface that's firm and level so the bak is open and facing you.
set it going and listen to ticking sound...is it even or does one swing sound 'longer' than the other?
put some cardboard under one side of the feet to even the beat and if it continues running it is out of beat on your shelf.
do not put above a heat source as this dries the oil out.
