Post subject: Grandma's mantel clock info needed
My grandma was in her late 80s when she died in 1964. My sister now has her mantel clock. We would like to know more information on it;

It looks to be a Sessions or Ingraham Admantine mantle clock made around the turn of the century. If you have the back cover, it may have a name on it. It is an eight-day clock. It looks like it needs a good cleaning. The pendulum is not shown in the picture. Do you have it? The dial looks to be a replacement paper dial replaced years ago. The original dial and bezel were larger with a brass bezel that was about 1 inch larger than the present ones and coverd the hole in the front of the clock. The movement looks to be the original because the screw holes look like they match the original holes.

I just called my sister and asked her some questions. It does have a pendulum about the size of a silver dollar. The face plate is not paper but metal. It has "Made in Germany" at the bottom of the 6. She said our grandma always said her father brought it here from Ireland.
It does have a back cover, but there is no label on it.
I did look at some Sessions mantel clocks and they look very similar to the one in the photo.
Why would it have "Made in Germany" if Sessions made clocks in Connecticut?

Someone has changed the dial. The original dial was as I described: Larger, and was attached by screws to the front of the wood around the hole in the front. You can see the original screw holes. Look on Ebay and search Admantine clock or black mantel clock and you should see several similar clocks for sale. You will see an original dial there.
