Post subject: grandmother clock only works at a angle
Hi
i have a Canham of London grandmother clock The pendulem only keeps the clock running when it is at a silly angle 2 coasters under one side in fact . This makes it tick tock evenly but the pendulem is just touching oneside of the case and a long way off the other It has run superb for me . Then i moved it to decorate and i must admit ,it did have a rough ride to the other side of the room . Is there a way to correct it please . i am a OAP and i cant afford to take it to repair regards Charles
i am endevouring to get some photos uploaded shortly

Your pendulum is in need of a beat adjustment. You will need to gain access to the backside of your clock movement. Remove the pendulum from the pendulum leader. Note that there should be an arm which extends out of the back plate of the movement and through the pendulum leader (just above where the pendulum mounts to the leader). This is commonly referred to as the crutch arm. This crutch arm needs to swing an equal distance from vertical center to the left as it does from vertical center to the right. As you move the crutch arm to each side, you will encounter resistance. You can push through this restistance on the "shorter" swing side to even out the swing. Once again, ensure the crutch arm swings equally from center to left as it does from center to right.
Replace the pendulum and make certain the clock case (particularly the movement) is level front to back and side to side. Start the pendulum swing and see if this corrects the problem.
