Most mechanical movements (if not all) have a means by which you can regulate timekeeping. The most common (more so specific to Grandfather and Grandmother movements) is to adjust the rating nut which is located underneath the pendulum bob. Turning the rating nut will either raise or lower the pendulum bob. Lowering the bob will slow the movement down. Generally speaking, one full turn of the rating nut will equal about 1 minute in a 24 hour period. Note that once an adjustment is made, you must allow the movement to run a full 24 hours before making further adjustments (as you will need to see how much time the movement gains/loses in a full 24 hour period). This is a trail and error process that may take a few days to complete.
