Hello,
I am new to the forum.I have had my grandmothers Hamilton steeple 31 day clock for 28 years.I wind it up at the first of every month.I did just that yesterday,BUT I accidentaly wound it to the end.It was running fine till I wound it up!Did I wind it to far? Any sugestions on UN winding it a bit to try that? It runs for 5 minutes then stops.
The clock probably is not worth very much,it has sentimentle value. It has a separate wind for the single chime which has an anying gong sound.
The back of the clock says Japan.
Thank you very much.

there is not such thing as overwinding, as the clock will stop when it can no longer be wound. Most likely the clock will need service, i.e. a cleaning, and inspection.
