Post subject: hello, I have a minor issue that needs fixin'
Hi, my names Rob and I have a cuckoo clock as well. I saw the other threads but my issue is different. It seems like it'd be rather simple to correct, but I have no concept of what I should do and I figured before I messed around too much I would consult some helpful advice from someone who might have experience or know-how with these clocks.
Anyways, my clock functions perfectly and keeps time right to the minute, however my issue is that the bird chirps and the dancers dance 2 minutes after the exact time. For example, you want the bird to start chirping at 10:00 on the dot, but instead the minute hand will be at 10:02 when the bird chirps. I've tried moving the minute hand back and delaying it so that it goes off at 10:00, but it does not work. For some reason it is set to trigger 2 minutes after every hour and half hour. Anyone know how to make a quick fix on this? Do I need to get at it from the inside and slightly modify something so that it will trigger at the right time on each hour or half hour?
It's no big deal really, but it's just that when people come over and want to see it go off, they always say, "wow, that was neat, but why does it go off at 2 minutes late?!?" It kind of takes away from the whole experience if you know what I mean. So anyway, what's the trick guys? Anybody had a minor issue like this one? Any help would be appreciated. I shall check back later. See ya

well these are exactly perfect timepieces as you say but i like them.
you need to lay it on its back on a table and hold the minute hand as steady as ossible whilst you unscrew the center nut golding the hand tight.
unfortunately this is quite tricky and takes a few attempts to get it bang on.
with the screw just loose enough you should be able to turn the hand a fraction backwards 2 minutes worth and then tighten the nut up again.
then test and see where it strikes.
probably have to do it many times before correct.

ah, thanks for the reply. Seems fairly simple like I had imagined. I'll give it a try and report back with my results. Thanks again for the tip.

wow clokfxr, you sure were right. At first I thought that it seemed like it would be easy to just undo the nut and move it back 2 minutes and it would be fine, but man, it took me like 10 tries to adjust it so it would match up perfectly. Anyways, after all those attempts to get the minute hand in place, I finally did get it tuned just right so thanks for the advice and I am really happy now that my issue is resolved. Thanks again
