Post subject: Hello I'm new and also LOST in fixing grandparent's clock
First, let me introduce myself, my name is Stephen and I joined this forum for some help with a clock I'm trying to repair. I typically have a very strong mechanical ability but I've met my match. My granny's clock died last Easter and it has been in my home since. First, I tried to repair it and got side tracked with finsihing up school and my Eagle Scout. I've now gotten it out again want to have it done by Thanksgiving.
The problem is, the clock part of it works. It ticks and tocks and runs fine now, but I think I did something wrong and now something else is busted. The little weights that spin around and around no longer work and I know it has something to do with the wire in my fingers below. I can't seem to find where it connects and am at a loss for what to do. Please help, this means a lot to me, they got this clock when they and my mom lived in Germany in the 70s.
Also, please forgive me, I'm not repairing clocks often. My language may lack proper terms so go easy on me.
The wire thing that came out?

i need to know exactly what is broken...you say 'wire' well this can refer to the suspension wire that the pendulum hangs on or electrical type wire on the on the coil that drives the magnets (little weights?) on the balance.
your picture is not clear enough to see which is broken.
if the wire on the little coil between the magnets broken you cannot fix it. the only way to fix it is to replace it with another from a similar clock which you will have to search for as they are not made any more.
if the suspension is broken you MAY be able to get one.
