Post subject: Help finding Michael Graves clock
Hello. I'm new to the forum and would appreciate any help I can get. About 5 years ago, my wife bought a cheap 2-sided Michael Graves designed wall clock at Target that fit the theme of our kitchen perfectly. It's actually 2 clocks that fit together with plastic rivets. I think she paid about $20 for it. Well, one of the clocks stopped running, and I'm looking to replace it. I found the same clock (different color) on ebay, but the seller wants $100 for it
If you can disassemble the clock, you may be able to gain access to the clock movement (motor) itself. If the clock movement can be removed, you can replace the movement without having to replace the entire clock. Generally, most movements are secured with a small nut which threads over the center hand shaft on the front surface of the clock. Typically, movement removal involves removing the hour, minute, and second (if applicable) hands, and then removing this threaded nut which secures the movement. Take note of the length of the threaded portion of the shaft on the existing movement (once again, if applicable). Use this measurement to find an equivalent replacement movement (it is also a good idea to get the overall dimensions of the old movement as well). Klockit offers battery operated quartz movements, and you may be able to locate electric movements (wall outlet plug-in movements) as well. By replacing the movement, you would be able to forego purchasing another dual sided wall clock.
