Trying to repair a very nice swinger clock. Stripped and cleaned and oiled bearings & sliding parts - now ticks beatifully and centrally when not swinging, but I can't get it to keep swinging on its support cups. Anyone got any bright ideas..? Thanks folks... Sad

Got it going perfectly. What did I do..? a) re-positioned the pallet pivot plate slightly on the screws, to ensure exactly square b) oiled pivots and escape wheel with watch oil (rather than clock oil) c) made sure it was hanging exactly vertically, and d) ensure that the pivot pins were sitting in the centre of their cups. Keep my fingers crossed - being going well for 6 hours so far. Hope this may help somebody else with the same problem...
